What is Not Included
While we provide a comprehensive wilderness experience, the following items are the responsibility of the hunter:
- Government hunting licenses and applicable taxes.
- Industry-standard gratuities for guides and lodge staff.
- Meat processing, taxidermy services, and all related shipping costs.
Booking & Logistics
To ensure your preferred dates are secured, we have established the following booking schedule. Please note that all spots are reserved on a first-come, first-served basis.
- A 25% deposit is required at the time of booking to hold your spot.
- A 25% payment is required by January 1st of your scheduled hunting year.
- The remaining 50% payment is required by July 1st of your scheduled hunting year.
Meat Processing & Care
We take the handling of your harvest seriously. Woodman’s Outfitters can coordinate all necessary meat processing and shipping arrangements on your behalf. Upon arrival at camp, successful hunters will be provided with a detailed checklist to ensure your meat and trophies are handled according to your specific preferences.
Our Commitment to Ethical Hunting
At Woodman’s Outfitters, we are staunch advocates for humane and ethical hunting practices. To ensure the most clean and respectful harvest possible, we strongly suggest that every hunter sights in their rifle at our range before beginning their hunt.
In the event that an animal is wounded, our team will make every possible and realizable effort to retrieve it. Please be advised that if these efforts are unsuccessful in recovering the animal, the hunt will be deemed complete. We believe this policy honors the wildlife and maintains the integrity of the Newfoundland wilderness.
The Gear & Pack List
Mandatory Clothing/Gear You Must Bring
The September and October climate in Newfoundland is very active, and you should be prepared for a wide variety of weather conditions. We suggest a layering system to stay comfortable as fall temperatures can range from 0°C to 15°C (32°F to 60°F).
- Flashlight or headlamp

- Rain gear
- 16 to 18 inch knee-high rubber boots
- Light gloves and stocking hat
- Layered clothing for late evening and early morning glassing
- Ammunition
- Soft gun case
- Sleeping bag
- Filter water bottle works great around local ponds and streams
- Light footwear for around camp
Weaponry & Ballistics
To ensure a clean and ethical harvest, we recommend a minimum of .270 caliber for Moose, Caribou, and Bear. For best results, we suggest using at least a 150-grain bullet weight. Choosing the right caliber and weight ensures you are prepared for the rugged Newfoundland terrain and the size of our world-class trophies.
Weight Limits
For guests accessing our fly-in hunting camps, there is a strict weight limit of 50 lbs per hunter. We strongly recommend using soft duffel bags and soft gun cases for easier packing in the aircraft.
